The cheapest season for a Sumba trip
The land rate does not move with the season. What moves is the resort rate, the flights, and whether the road to the waterfall holds.

Sheet 15 · Cost
The East is the other half of the island, not a day trip from the West. Reaching it properly means an open-jaw ticket and at least seven days.
Ask the deskIt works from seven days up, flying into Tambolaka and out of Waingapu. Under seven days you spend a whole day driving back to where you started, and see nothing new doing it.
The shape
Four nights west, two or three east. The crossing happens once, in the middle, and it is a day with stops rather than a dash.
The waterfall day depends on the road. In the wet stretch, December to March, we flag that before you book.

We flag the open-jaw routing before you book flights, not after.
Two bases and open-jaw routing move the cost too much for a published band to be honest.
The biggest lever by far. Per-person cost falls steadily to eight travellers, then rises again when a second car is needed.
Standard hotels sit inside the land rate. Resort nights are quoted by the hotel and added on top, on confirmation.
Staying in the West is one base. Adding the East means an open-jaw ticket and a second base, and both carry cost.
The published land rate card covers the single-base lengths, with every figure dated: /nihi-sumba-trip-cost/
