**As of 2026, NIHI Sumba publishes its price per night in Indonesian rupiah, converts to US dollars at the prevailing rate, and charges the final amount at the rate on the day you pay. Room rates exclude a 21 percent government tax and service charge; on-island experiences are priced separately. The current rate document is dated March 2026.**

How does NIHI Sumba publish its price per night in 2026?
The resort’s public rates and inclusions page, as of 2026, sets the rules that decide what you actually pay.
| Rate component | How the resort publishes it (as of 2026) | What it means for your budget |
|---|---|---|
| Base currency | Indonesian rupiah, per the rate document dated March 2026 | The IDR figure is the anchor; every USD number is a translation of it |
| USD display | Converted from IDR at the prevailing exchange rate | An April USD quote can differ from a September one with no change to the room |
| Final charge | Based on the exchange rate at the time of payment | An early deposit fixes the IDR amount, not a USD amount |
| Tax and service | All room rates exclusive of a 21 percent government tax and service charge | Add 21 percent to the headline number before comparing it with anything else |
| Experiences | Priced separately per person or per couple, in IDR | Surf sessions, spa treatments and excursions are a second line item |
So a listing’s “price per night” is rarely the number the resort invoices; listings tend to show a pre-tax figure in a currency that has already moved. Budget IDR-first: the rupiah rate for your dates, plus 21 percent, converted once and labelled indicative.
We do not republish the resort’s rupiah figures here. They move with season bands, so we check the rate sheet against your exact dates instead of printing a number that may be stale by the time you read it.
Which season changes the nightly rate most?
Sumba’s high-end room supply is small, so season shapes availability as much as price. As of 2026 the dry season runs roughly May to October, and a 30-year satellite analysis flags June, July and August as ideal, at about 30°C with roughly a 9 percent chance of rain.
| Season band | Months (indicative) | Weather, as of 2026 | Effect on nightly rates and rooms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak | June-August | 27-32°C, a few millimetres of rain a month, sea 26-28°C | Highest demand; book villas, cars and guides early; expect upper bands and possible minimum stays |
| Shoulder | September-October | Still dry, fewer visitors | Somewhat lower prices than June-August island-wide; the best weather-to-rate ratio |
| Mixed shoulder | April and November | Transition months, mornings usually workable | Bands vary; ask for the exact check-in date band |
| Low / wet | December-March, heaviest January-February | 26-31°C, afternoon downpours, 200 mm-plus in parts of the season | Lower demand; swollen rivers stretch road times, so stay coastal rather than cross the island |
Wet-season discounts exist, but the resort sets its own bands, and late-December festive dates commonly sit near the top of a luxury property’s ladder regardless of weather. Confirm the band for your check-in date, not the month.
How do you compare NIHI’s nightly rate with Lelewatu and Cap Karoso?
All three are reached through Tambolaka/Lede Kalumbang Airport (TMC), but their rate structures, inclusions and transfer times differ, so a headline number alone misleads.
| Property (accommodation option, not a partner) | Verified location (15 September 2026) | Road time from TMC (indicative) | What to check before comparing |
|---|---|---|---|
| NIHI Sumba | Hoba Wawi, Wanokaka, West Sumba Regency | 60-90 minutes, conditions vary | 21 percent tax and service on top; experiences separate; IDR base |
| Lelewatu | Wanokaka, West Sumba Regency, about 63 km from TMC | 1-1.5 hours | Pre- or post-tax figure; which meals and transfers sit inside the rate |
| Cap Karoso | Karoso Beach, Kodi, Southwest Sumba Regency | About 50 minutes, per the resort’s own estimate | Room versus villa category; whether airport transfers are bundled |
The fair method: convert every rate to IDR, confirm whether tax and service are inside or outside, add the cost of whatever the rate excludes, then compare per-night totals for identical dates. A property 20 percent cheaper on the headline can close the gap once transfers and meals are added.
NIHI and Lelewatu share Wanokaka, so a split stay is a same-day move; Cap Karoso in Kodi pairs with Ratenggaro, Weekuri lagoon and Mandorak.
Why do our packages quote the resort component only after hotel confirmation?
Because we are not the hotel. Indonesia Juara Trip’s land-only ladder, published on luxurysumba.com/sumba-trip-cost as of 2026, reads as follows.
| Trip length | Land-only, excludes resort, per person (USD, as of 2026) | Label |
|---|---|---|
| 4D3N | 390 / 490 / 570 | Land-only; resort nights not included |
| 5D4N | 459 / 700 / 850 | Land-only; resort nights not included |
| 6D5N | 570 / 1,020 | Land-only; resort nights not included |
These figures are land-only, exclude the resort, and none is a package total; tiers differ by land-side service level.
The resort component is added only after the hotel confirms room category, date band, current IDR rate, the 21 percent tax and service, and any minimum-stay rule. Then we issue one written quote for the whole trip. Any “all-in” figure for a NIHI stay not confirmed by the hotel for your dates is a guess dressed as a price.
The quote lists fees separately, as of 2026: airport tourist tax IDR 50,000 (about USD 3.50), per a Sumba fee guide updated 19 August 2026; village contributions IDR 20,000-50,000, up to IDR 100,000 in some regencies; waterfalls and lagoons IDR 20,000-200,000; drone permits around IDR 200,000. Transiting Bali triggers the IDR 150,000 tourism levy in force since 14 February 2024.
How does booking work?
- Send your dates and party size by WhatsApp or email, and say whether you are flexible by a few days; crossing a band boundary changes the nightly rate.
- We check the resort’s current rate sheet for your check-in band, in IDR, and confirm availability with the hotel. This step cannot be skipped or estimated.
- You receive one written quote: resort nights in IDR with the 21 percent tax and service as a separate line, USD flagged indicative, the land-only component, and fees.
- You confirm and pay the resort deposit under the hotel’s terms; the final charge follows the exchange rate at payment. The land component runs under Indonesia Juara Trip terms.
- Transfers and the driver-guide are locked for arrival at TMC, with the 60-90 minute road leg to Wanokaka built into day one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the NIHI Sumba price per night in 2026 include tax and service?
No. The resort’s rates and inclusions page, as of 2026, states that all room rates are exclusive of a 21 percent government tax and service charge. Add 21 percent to any headline nightly figure before comparing it with another property, and expect it as a separate line on the final invoice.
Why does the USD price per night differ between two NIHI quotes?
Because the rate is set in Indonesian rupiah and converted to US dollars at the prevailing exchange rate, per the resort’s rate document dated March 2026. Two quotes a few weeks apart can show different USD numbers for the same room. The final charge follows the rate at payment, so treat every USD figure as indicative.
Are surf sessions and excursions part of the NIHI nightly rate?
No. As of 2026, on-island experiences are priced separately per person or per couple, in IDR, on top of the room rate. List the activities you actually want and price them as a second line. This is the item most often missed when travellers compare NIHI with Lelewatu or Cap Karoso.
Can Nihi Sumba Trip guarantee a NIHI price per night for 2026 before the hotel confirms?
No. The nightly rate depends on the resort’s date band, room category, current IDR rate and availability, all of which the hotel controls. Our land-only ladder is published and fixed; the resort component appears in your quote only after the hotel has confirmed it in writing.
